A Fun Family Day on the Farm

Shearing Day 2016

Glacier Rock Farms’ Shearing Day 2016 was held Sunday, June 5th and was a great success! We had beautiful weather and many attendees here for this fun, yearly event. Professional shearer, Rick (pictured below), demonstrated his excellent techniques LIVE on our three Tunis sheep, Talia, Bella and Emma, giving these gals their yearly “hair-cut.”

Visitors also learned what happens to the sheep’s wool after it’s been shorn and watched live demonstrations of wool washing, wool spinning and felted soap making as well. The sheep didn’t get all the attention on shearing day; guests also enjoyed pony rides, hay rides, petting our many animals including the new kittens on the farm.

The folks from Discover Wisconsin were also here taking photos and videos while learning more about our 100+ acre farm. We are thankful to all who helped to make this event a great time!
